Houses with a garden or patio area are more prone to theft. Not only is the garden a commonly used access point for intruders into the property, helping them remain out of sight from passers-by and residents, but gardens are themselves also an attractive target for theft.
From bicycles to gardening equipment, garden furniture, barbecues and most recently even jacuzzis, there are a large number of valuables we keep in our gardens which also require protection. Additionally, there has been a huge increase of dog theft, as the demand for puppies has grown massively during the pandemic. Many dog owners don’t feel safe to leave their furry friend running freely in the garden.
A way to avoid any distressing situation or losses, is to implement an outdoor security system which will reliably detect people while accommodating pets, that can also cope with constant lighting and environmental changes and provide visual verification of what is happening. This will enable you to be alerted when needed and have a clear understanding of the situation.

Our VXI/CMOD Kit combines in a single unit, an outdoor intelligent sensor, VX Infinity, with a panoramic HD camera, VXI-CMOD. The main strength of this equipment is to reliably detect an intrusion, using our digital analysis the sensor discriminates the most common causes of false alarms, such as changes in lighting, shadows, movements of vegetation or insects on the sensor lens.
It is also pet tolerant meaning it won’t trigger with wildlife or nocturnal animals such as birds, cats, rabbits, foxes etc and it can be armed when dogs are left out in the garden.
Technology to eliminate nuisance alarms due to pets and wildlife
Both an upper and a lower detection area must simultaneously be crossed to generate an alarm. The detections are independently analysed so that any misleading coincidence of events can be filtered out.
When the alarm is triggered, the video camera is immediately activated and a notification is simultaneously sent to registered mobiles and, if applicable, to the monitoring station.
The VXI-CMOD camera fits into the top of the sensor and has a 180-degree panoramic view which can fully cover large gardens, pool areas and patios. Full HD 1080P quality offers high image definition and built-in infrared LEDs for better night vision. In addition, the installation height of 1.20m offers a clear view of the events and front view of the intruder, helping to identify the intruder more easily. As additional features, the camera integrates a microphone with the option to enable/disable the audio from the mobile, and it has dewarping functionalities to be able to zoom in/out of the image and view to the sides, offering an even more complete image of the scene.
All events are recorded with a two second pre-alarm up to 28 seconds after detection. The user can easily access the recordings, share them with the police, or they can be easily shared in WhatsApp groups and other social networks to alert neighbors and relatives of a potential danger.
The VXI/CMOD kit can work with any alarm panels or be self-monitored; it can alert timely of an intrusion, triggering lights, launching an audio warning and notifying the homeowner, security staff or the police, considerably reducing the risk of a break in.
Combine our sensors with third-party cameras
It is common for home owners, or residents to have outdoor cameras in place to monitor their garden or access to their property. The system can be connected to a monitoring centre or be self-monitored using an App. Usually equipped with built-in motion detection, outdoor cameras tend to generate a lot of nuisance alarms, triggered by shadows, spider webs on the lens, change of weather or lighting etc.
A way to make the system more useful and reliable is to connect our OPTEX outdoor pet tolerant sensors to it so only genuine alarms will trigger the camera to send an alert to the owner or monitoring station.
