What initially attracted you to join OPTEX?
Throughout my career, I had worked with Italian and American companies, but never a Japanese one, and that intrigued me. I’d been familiar with OPTEX’s outdoor sensors for many years and had the chance to use and appreciate their early fibre optic and LiDAR solutions around 15 years ago. Remarkably, those systems are still running smoothly today!
But what truly impressed me during the initial interview process was their mindset. They didn’t focus on age, they focused on experience, on what I could bring to the table from my years in the field. That kind of forward-thinking attitude really resonated with me, and it made me want to be part of it.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
I truly enjoy working in collaboration with customers, helping them turn their ideas into reality through the right technologies and solutions. Building long-term relationships with security consultants and managers, and seeing projects come to life – from a simple technical proposal to a fully operational system – brings me a great level of fulfilment.
Being part of a multinational group also gives me the chance to collaborate with colleagues from around the world, exchanging knowledge and experiences that constantly enrich my own perspective. It keeps things fresh and inspiring.
What is your favourite OPTEX product and why?
Given my technical roots and my past work designing wide-area networks, I’m particularly fond of the fibre optic perimeter protection solutions from our Fiber Sensys brand. These systems may appear simple, given the minimal number of components, but they pack a powerful technological punch with advanced signal processing algorithms. Their versatility allows them to be used across a wide range of applications – that’s what makes them so fascinating to me.
And finally, how do you relax and unwind outside of work?
I’m a curious soul by nature, always eager to explore something new – whether that’s through travel, discovering new cuisines, or diving into emerging technologies.
I also enjoy giving back. I’m actively involved in volunteer work, particularly in blood donation and civil protection efforts. It’s a way for me to share a little of the good fortune I’ve had.
As a proud Alpino (a member of the Italian Alpine troops), I have a deep connection to the mountains and the spirit of brotherhood that I embraced in my youth. I love experiencing the mountains in every season, whether with my family or on my own, especially when I’m foraging for mushrooms.
