Meet the team - Johannes Faber, Regional Sales Manager DACH

What initially attracted you to join OPTEX?

I was particularly impressed by OPTEX’s experience, spanning back to Japan in 1979, and got a real sense of OPTEX’s positioning and standing at the forefront of the industry, as well as an educator, committed to deliver the most innovative and appropriate technologies that solve the everyday problems of its customers. Equally, I was extremely impressed with the reliability and quality of OPTEX sensors. I was keen to learn more about new technologies, such as the pioneering use of LiDAR, that helped me to realise new projects and experiences that I had never encountered in previous roles.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

The possibility to support new and existing partners across a wide variety of industries and to build up strong relationships and trust to enhance their operations. In turn, this provides the possibility to help shape the future of the DACH region.

What is your favourite OPTEX product and why?

If I had to pick one, I would say that my favourite is the REDSCAN LiDAR series. The outstanding precision of our LiDAR sensors can clearly locate the position of any intruder or even a single hand. This allows us to set up a detection system in almost any scenario, from wide, open spaces to very narrow areas across a wide range of environments including high security sites such as datacentres and critical infrastructure, to retail, logistics and more. The REDSCAN series provides multiple possibilities and advanced detection for any environment.

And finally, how do you relax and unwind outside of work?

Some would probably argue that it is not the most relaxing activity, but I am an avid climber, both outdoors exploring the natural world, and indoor climbing centres, a hobby I’m happy to share with my family and closest friends. Although it requires a lot of concentration and focus, it helps me to clear my mind, and it’s all worth it once you get to the top!
