Optex qxi wireless 250x150

Product Details

The QX Infinity (QXI) series is a range of outdoor PIRs and dual-technology sensors providing 120° wide and 12m (40ft) detection area, which can be adjusted with the masking strips provided. Sleek and compact, the QXI sensors are small and well suited to any residential or commercial building as they provide reliable, animal tolerant intrusion and motion detection to trigger alarm panel of CCTV camera. QXI-RDT is the wireless model with dual-technology.

Dual-technology and Tough microwave module

The QXI series' integrated PIR and Microwave algorithm provides the ultimate stability in detection performance as the alarm is only triggered when both PIR and Microwave layers of detection detect motion. It features the Tough microwave module too, specifically developed to prevent corrosion from condensation and humidity.

Selectable mounting height

The QXI outdoor intrusion sensors can be installed at a high mount between 2.2 and 2.7m creating a multi-level volumetric detection pattern, allowing it to ignore small animals. In environments with larger animals, the sensor can be mounted between 0.8 and 1.2m height, to provide a pet alley.

Detection analysis to filter out false alarms

The QXI outdoor intruder sensors are designed to be not affected by environment or small animals. The alarm will not be triggered by changes of weather, vegetation sways or pets in the detection area, contributing to reliable outdoor detection. Additionally the series features double conductive shielding which filters out visible light and RFI disturbance.

Flexibility of wireless

The battery-operated QXI-RDT can be easily added on most wireless alarm systems and provides the benefit of protecting quickly and efficiently the boundary of the premises and of any outer buildings. Wireless transmitters can be powered by the sensor and it features easy access to the battery located at the front of the sensor.

FAQs

The battery-operated models of the QXI (QXI-R, QXI-RDT) have back-boxes that are large enough to accommodate most transmitters. The maximum size of the transmitters should be: 90mm (length) x 50mm (width) x 30mm (depth). The backbox of the QXI have sticking mounting pads inside to secure the transmitter in place.

Masking strips are supplied with the QXI in the box. You can mask individual sections of the detection area by placing the corresponding strip to the lens. The latches that hold the lens in place can be found at the top, bottom, left and right of the lens. The lens can be removed easily by unlocking each latch with your thumb or screwdriver and gently push the lens out. Please ensure that you place the masking strips on the inside of the lens, not on the outside.

No, PIR sensors detect the temperature difference between the detection goal and the bottom inside the detector’s field of view both when the difference is positive or negative. During the day the flat temperature can reach 50-60 degrees Celsius, whereas the human body maintains it at 30 degrees Celsius. This 20-degree difference is more than enough to detect intruder’s presence.

The QXI is in multi-level mode by default which accommodates mounting heights between 2.2m – 2.7m. Low mount is for the pet alley function which can be achieved by removing the main unit from the backbox and gently flipping the mirror into the horizontal position. Be aware to not touch the mirror face, only the sides. The mounting height for the pet alley pattern is 0.8m – 1.2m. If the QXI is mounted higher than this and is in the pet alley pattern, that human detection may be compromised. Please note, anti-blocking feature is not available when the QXI is in pet alley mode.
