Precise long-range LiDAR security sensors

The REDSCAN Pro works in similar ways throughout a multi-layer security system. The major layers of a physical security system, from the outside in, are the perimeter, approach, building exterior and interior. REDSCAN can be deployed in one, some or all of these layers to create the ultimate detection solution.
Choose REDSCAN Pro for high-security sites where accurate, long-range intrusion detection is required across wide indoor or outdoor areas.
The series is best suited to applications where standard sensors, beams or camera-only detection do not provide enough coverage, accuracy or control. REDSCAN Pro uses LiDAR technology to detect an object’s size, distance and location, helping security teams identify activity with greater precision.
It is ideal for datacentres, airports, rail sites, utilities, prisons, warehouses, logistics sites and other critical environments. The detection area splits into independent zones, so each area of the site has its own sensitivity, target size and alarm output.
Choose the RLS-3060V for wide-area protection up to 30 x 60m.
Choose the RLS-50100V for longer-range protection up to 50 x 100m.
REDSCAN Pro is the right choice when the site needs precise detection, flexible zoning, camera-assisted setup and stable performance in changing outdoor conditions.
This advanced perimeter intrusion detection solution excels at identifying intruders on the perimeter of your facility. It functions as a critical part of both commercial intruder alarm systems and high-security sites, checking set areas of unwanted objects, including people and vehicles. By sensing intruders this early, they can be deterred by sound, light or security teams before the situation gets out of control. Our security systems are made to integrate seamlessly with other security solutions at the same or other layers. For added perimeter protection, we advise integrating REDSCAN Pro with the Fiber Sensys fence-mounted system. However, REDSCAN also works effectively as a standalone solution.
The REDSCAN Pro virtual walls and planes can be set to cover any surface area. A virtual plane can be configured to detect objects around fences and walls on either side, acting as a perimeter breach or early warning system. Or a virtual wall can be configured on, above, below or completely replacing barriers, detecting intruders however they enter your perimeter
REDSCAN Pro is also useful for detecting intruders approaching your fences, walls, or building. You can customise triggers to only occur when intruders enter a certain proximity field, such as 5 meters away. At this stage, it is common to trigger camera systems, to ensure they are tracking the movement of intruders. This may be your first line of defence if you have no discernible outer perimeter, and you may simply deter intruders at this stage. If intrusion into this area is clearly prohibited, such as in a warehouse security system where REDSCAN Pro is detecting intruders in locked yards, this can trigger an escalated reaction. For example, security teams can be deployed to the area, or building lockdown protocols can be initiated.
You can utilise REDSCANs virtual walls and planes on the surfaces of your buildings. This means that wherever intruders attempt to access your building, whether through a door, window, skylight or even a wall, you can detect them. We also provide automatic door sensors and other access control systems, so that your doors open for the right people at the right time.
Intruders may have breached multiple layers of security at this point, or this can be the first line of defence. In the former situation, you can track movement throughout the building, pinpointing coordinates to enable accurate deployment of security teams and/or countermeasures. The latter situation may involve intruders accessing a private part of an otherwise public building, for example, staff-only areas, or art and museum pieces.
Retail security systems, and security systems for most industries, are at risk of intruders bypassing external security, and accessing protected assets undetected, unless you have interior detection systems. In mansion security systems, you may want to use REDSCAN Pro to detect intruders around valuable assets such as cars or safes.
The RLS-3060V is an indoor and outdoor LiDAR sensor with a built-in assistance camera, designed for accurate intrusion detection across wide areas. With 30 x 60m, 190-degree detection coverage, the sensor creates customisable vertical or horizontal detection areas for high-security sites.
Using onboard analytics, the RLS-3060V recognises a moving object’s size, location and distance from the unit. The detection area also splits into up to 8 independent zones, with separate sensitivity, target size and output settings. This gives security teams more control across different risk areas, from pre-warning zones to immediate alarm zones.
The RLS-3060V is suited to datacentres, airports, rail sites, prisons, power stations, banks and other critical environments where accurate detection, visual support and stable performance matter.
The RLS-50100V is the long-range model in the REDSCAN Pro series, built for wide-area indoor and outdoor intrusion detection. With 50 x 100m, 190-degree detection coverage, the sensor protects large perimeters, open areas and high-security zones with one LiDAR unit.
The sensor uses onboard analytics to detect and track the size, speed and distance of moving objects. The detection area splits into up to 8 independent zones, each with configurable sensitivity, target size and output settings. This supports tailored alarm logic across different areas of a site.
The RLS-50100V also includes a built-in assistance camera for easier setup, walk testing and alarm event review. The sensor is well suited to datacentres, airports, rail infrastructure, prisons, power stations and other sites where long-range, accurate detection is required.
The Redscan series generate a Redwall Event Code. This is a simple ASCII character code which can be sent via TCP/IP (for example to a VMS). The Redscan Event Code communication can be set as follows:
In addition to the above, with the RLS-2020 there is also an HTTPS integration.
It can be downloaded from the following link: http://www.optex.co.jp/e/redwall/download/
This function is used to reduce false alarms in harsh environments such as fog, snow, etc. There are three possible modes: Enabled, Enhanced, and Disabled.
Environmental Disqualification (D.Q.) output will be activated in case of extreme weather conditions. OPTEX strongly recommends Redscan users to monitor DQ output for reliable operation.

Normally operating temperature of Redscan Pro is -20 to +60 degree. With the optional accessory RLS-LWVH, heated lens, it can operate in very cold environments down to -40 degree thanks to a transparent conductive film heater. Please note that when using the Heated lens up to level 3 (-30 degree) it can be powered over PoE+, at level 4 to defrost the lens at -40 degree, the REDSCAN PRO will require to be an external DC power supply.
A large selection of our intrusion detection sensors can be custom painted, including our LiDAR range, our short range outdoor PIRs and dual tech sensors such as the BX, VX and WX series. Some of our sensors though, like our IR beams and beam towers cannot be customised as the housing has been treated with special UV resistant material and the properties of the material would be affected by any coating. It is recommended that you check with your distributor or directly with OPTEX whether your sensor is suitable for customised painting.
What do we mean by customised painting ?
Customising the sensor means the body of the detector will be coated with either a single colour or with a pattern simulating the background surface where the sensor will be installed. Any colour variation and many design options can be achieved: the coating can replicate a wood texture, foliage, marble or natural stone, metal, carbon fibre and many more.
Can all the parts of the sensors be coated?
The plastic housing can, but some parts might not be suitable for custom paint, usually the parts next to the lens which are made of a different material
When can a customisation be done?
The customisation is only available to newly purchased sensors and requires on average 10 working days. Once you have selected the right sensors suitable for your protection needs you should analyse the precise locations where they will be installed in order to establish what will be the background like. At this stage share with our team the RAL code for the colour or a high res image of the background where the sensor will be installed. The process of customisation is arranged by OPTEX.
Don’ts
We strongly recommend that you don’t try customising the sensors yourself; applying spray paint will not work, it will damage the sensor and it will invalidate the warranty. The cost for the customisation of the sensor varies based on order and type of sensor. Contact our sales team to find out more and discuss your needs.
There is no maximum height, the REDSCAN Pro can be mounted up high on a building to protect the walls, façade and windows. Please note the length of detection will be as specified in the detection range. Please note in vertical mode, the sensor head should point down to the ground.
Yes it is, but please note the detection pattern for each REDSCAN Pro is in rectangle so it would create a 100m x 100m square (RLS-50100V) and 60m x 60m (RLS-3060V) and not a circular detection area.
Yes, once mounted, the REDSCAN Pro head can be rotated to suit the required angle. The head can rotate up/down 95 degrees and sideways 5 degrees. In this software setting change Redscan pro tilt direction to Auto.
OPTEX REDSCAN Pro LiDAR sensors analyse size, position and distance
REDSCAN Pro uses LiDAR technology to scan a configured detection area and detect moving objects with high accuracy. Its onboard analytics analyse the object’s size, speed and distance from the sensor. The system also tracks X and Y coordinates, giving operators precise location data for the detected movement. This helps security teams understand where an intrusion is happening, even in darkness or difficult lighting conditions.
Long-range detection for perimeter and high-security sites
The REDSCAN Pro range includes the RLS-3060V, which provides 30 x 60m detection coverage, and the RLS-50100V, which provides 50 x 100m detection coverage. The detection area is configurable in vertical or horizontal mode, making the sensor suited to fence lines, roof lines, façades, open areas, gates, yards and indoor high-security zones.
Independent detection zones and customised alarm outputs
Each REDSCAN Pro detection area is divided into up to 8 independent zones. Each zone has its own sensitivity, target size and output settings. This means one sensor works across multiple risk areas, with each zone triggering a different action. For example, one zone might trigger a PTZ camera preset, while another activates lighting, a warning message or an alarm output.
Built-in camera for setup and alarm review
REDSCAN Pro includes a built-in assistance camera. This helps installers check alignment during setup and gives operators visual context when an alarm event occurs. The LiDAR remains the primary detection source, while the camera supports verification and review.
Integration with VMS, CCTV and wider security systems
REDSCAN Pro is ONVIF Profile S compliant, helping it integrate with camera networks and VMS platforms. It links LiDAR detection with CCTV, PTZ cameras, lighting, warning systems and alarm outputs, giving security teams a faster, more accurate response to intrusion events.
