Both an upper and a lower detection area must simultaneously be crossed to generate an alarm. Each detection is independently analysed so that a misleading coincidence of events can be filtered out. This technology virtually eliminates false alarms triggered by smaller animals in the premises. Being a digital sensor, VXS sensors easily integrate with modern security systems and requires less maintenance.
By analysing detection patterns and environmental information, SMDA improves the VXS immunity against various noise factors such as climate changes and swaying vegetation and can distinguish between the cause of nuisance false alarms and genuine intrusions.
Active infrared anti-masking helps protect the VXS from deliberate tampering. If someone tries to cover, block or spray the lens, the sensor recognises the interference and sends a trouble signal to the alarm system. This gives installers and monitoring teams early warning of sabotage, helping maintain reliable protection across exposed outdoor areas such as entrances, paths, gardens, porches and building approaches.
The sensor watches a defined 90-degree area in front of it.
On PIR models, it looks for heat movement from a person crossing its detection zones. The detection pattern helps separate human movement from smaller animals and background movement.
On dual-tech models, the VXS combines PIR and microwave detection. This gives stronger stability in tougher outdoor environments, such as areas with sunlight changes, moving vegetation, or other movement near the protected space.
The sensor then analyses the signal before sending an alarm to the control panel, CCTV system or wider security system.
It also includes active infrared anti-masking. This detects attempts to cover, spray or block the lens, then sends a trouble output.

Power up the sensor as normal and close the cover. When the cover is on, an automatic walk-test function is enabled. After 3 minutes, the sensor will flash quickly for 5 seconds to indicate that the walk test is going to expire.
