The security needs of the Perimeter will largely depend on where the property is located and whether the perimeter is open or closed. Consideration should be given to whether it is a detached property or a villa in a gated community, as well as whether it borders other properties or public areas. In the case of enclosed perimeters, it is necessary to analyse what type of physical protection ('passive security') is involved: walls, fences, gates; assess its condition and whether it is for aesthetic or security purposes.
Active Infrared beams (AIR) provide a detection line that can be used as a virtual wall or placed on top of existing walls or fences giving them an additional virtual security line, or added inside the fence line further bolstering the physical perimeter line. They also work for open perimeters in sites where fences and walls are not possible. We have a variety of infrared beams ranging from the AX series for shorter distance and the SL series for long distances of up to 100m.
Another advantage of active IR beams is that there are wireless models available, making them easy to implement in temporary sites. They can also be stacked in beam towers to create a taller and more secure perimeter which will be more difficult to evade. The beam towers can contain multiple sets of air beams facing in either direction to connect with other towers and create an end-to-end virtual perimeter around the entire site.
Larger residents differ in the size of their grounds and can be comprised of a variety of different perimeters including fences, bushes and walls with large areas of vegetation and pets roaming around freely. OPTEX offer solutions that meet the needs should larger detection areas be needed.
LiDAR technology uses laser beams to measure distances and can detect intrusions by measuring changes in the environment over time. Our REDSCAN LiDAR technology enhances your physical security by being able to create virtual walls and ceilings. With REDSCAN you can create multiple zones and set different requirements for each one, great for larger sites. With advanced analytics our REDSCANs can analyse the size, speed and distance of the moving objects. It also provides accurate point detection by tracking the X & Y coordinates of the moving objects, allowing you to know exactly where the intruder is.
The REDSCAN Pro series are ONVIF compliant and provide high-security protection over large areas up to 100m. The REDSCAN Pro also has a built-in camera to assist with configuration and post-event analysis, delivering the ultimate solution and accuracy when it comes to intruder detection by recording the exact events as they happen. It offers up to 8 independent zones which can be individually adjusted to detect different object sizes, for example one zone can be set to protect the gate and detect just vehicles while another can detect people.
Fiber optic technology is a fantastic choice for protecting larger sites, our FiberSensys for example ranges from 50m-100km, and is not affected by weather conditions or lighting. Fence-mounted fibre optic sensors work by installing optical fibres along the perimeter of the protected area, and monitoring changes in the light transmitted through the fibres. Any attempt to breach the perimeter, such as climbing or cutting the fence, will cause a change in the light transmission and trigger an alarm.
Fibre optic sensors are intrinsically safe for use in hazardous areas and are designed to operate in extreme temperatures as well as in dusty or harsh environments, making them suitable for a wide range of locations including critical infrastructure, industrial facilities, government buildings, and other sensitive areas. They can also be integrated with other security systems, such as video surveillance cameras and access control systems, to provide a comprehensive security solution.
