2023 - Multilayered - Roof and Building

In a multi-layered security system, the sensors used around the building and roof are the last line of defence against a possible break in. OPTEX sensors offer a reliable and versatile detection which can be customised depending on the level of security, application and budget, to secure any site.

Intruders may often target vulnerable entry points such as roofs, skylights, windows, balconies and doors. It can be difficult with CCTV alone to monitor all of these areas which is why intrusion detection sensors should be the first line of defence, enabling the system to reliably detect, and to trigger and guide the cameras to visually verify events. Depending on the size of the site, operational requirements and level of security, different sensors can be deployed.

Advanced 2D LiDAR technology, can pinpoint the exact X,Y coordinates of an intruder in seconds and allow for customizable detection zones, while not affected by weather or lighting. All of this makes LiDAR sensors the most suitable detection technology for higher risk areas. Our award-winning REDSCAN LiDARs can be mounted vertically, horizontally or angled and are available in short-range and long-range, allowing for many applications. The REDSCAN Pro offers a detection range of up to 100m and the REDSCAN Mini can create a 20m x 20m detection area, perfect for protecting windows or skylights while the Pro can cover the whole roof or façade.

REDSCAN sensors can be used indoors and outdoors to either detect movement on the roof or placed on the inside to detect any access through the ceiling.

Another solution is to use the infrared beams to create a virtual barrier or wall around the roof or on balconies, should anyone attempt to climb onto it and enter through a window or fire door.

OPTEX's Fiber Sensys can be embedded on walls and ceilings to detect any drilling holes to gain access inside buildings, for instance to access goods in a warehouse, jewelry from a shop, or trying to pull out cash machines from walls. Large surfaces can be protected with fibre optic intrusion sensors and alarm zones can be set to trigger cameras, access control or building management systems. Fiber Sensys provides a reliable, versatile and also long-lasting solution as the service life for the fibre cable is expected to be at least 20 years.

OPTEX's BX Shield series provides award-winning PIR curtain detection to protect the immediate boundary of a premise and can detect intruders standing near a door, on a balcony, or someone trying to peek through a window. With a detection range of up to 24m, BXS can protect a whole façade with just one sensor. The series provides independent left/right detection which is very helpful for video surveillance and gives the ability to customise each side of the detection to the needs of the façade.

As well as the BX Shield we can also offer the FTN series, a 5m curtain detection with rotatable detection. This allows the FTN to be very versatile in the applications you can use this sensor in.
