Making effective use of the creep zone

4 November 2021
A number of our long range REDWALL SIP PIRs feature an independent creep zone sensor to protect the area underneath the sensor. It can be adjusted by 90 degrees to suit different types of applications.

Our REDWALL SIP sensors provide long range external detection, working in conjunction with CCTV systems. Amongst the SIP series, a number of models feature an independent sensor referred to as the ‘creep zone’ sensor which is very useful to detect anyone walking underneath the sensor.

Creep zone detection pattern

The creep zone sensor has a detection pattern of 90 degrees, with user adjustable rotation of + / - 90 degrees. The direction of the creep zone sensor should be verified with the indicator pointer located on the round ring dome (see picture below, note 1). If necessary, rotate the dome in the direction of coverage.

Adjusting the creep zone sensor

During installation you may need to adjust the direction of the creep zone sensor to provide effective coverage. Using the position indicator (see picture above, note 2), confirm the sensor is pointing in the desired direction. Once the direction is set, you may also slightly adjust the 5m detection range by using the +/- 3 degree vertical tilt feature (see picture above, note 3).
