In order to increase security at their site in Rayleigh, Essex, U.K., which consists of a large warehouse building – housing highly valuable plant equipment – and an office unit, CCR required a new solution that delivers both highly accurate and reliable detection, and turned to local specialists, Bellmont Security Systems, to recommend the solution.
Bellmont began by surveying and assessing the make-up of the site to gauge what level of protection was required and in which areas. As an advocate of detection-led security systems, Paul Thorogood, Owner of Bellmont Security Systems, recommended OPTEX’s FlipX Advanced sensors as the solution to protect the most vulnerable areas on site. The Grade 3 FlipX Advanced sensors are specifically designed to protect high security sites and valuable assets, making them ideal to protect CCR’s warehouse and essential plant equipment.
OPTEX FlipX sensors feature a bespoke pyroelectric sensor for increased performance that adapts to the human shape, and a unique lens that can be ‘flipped’ to provide both wide and narrow detection in a single sensor. By simply rotating the lens through 180°, the sensor can be used to protect narrow or long areas such as a corridor or warehouse aisles up to 24m, or a wide, open area like a lobby or a high-value retail store to 15m at 85°. in addition, to provide a higher level of security, the Advanced models feature intelligent IR-Antimasking, which protects both the PIR and microwave sensors, generating an alert if they are covered. It’s also equipped with additional algorithms to ensure stable detection and to reduce ‘false’ alarms.
In total, Bellmont installed eight FlipX Advanced sensors, four in the warehouse and four in the offices, all of which are integrated with a Texecom alarm system. When the site was audited, the security setup passed with flying colours and were extremely impressed with how the sensors worked.
“The beauty with the FlipX is that we can have them curtain or we can have them as a wide angled PIR and the ease of installation is great,” Paul says. “There’s plenty of space inside the pop-in resistors, which make them great for grade 3 security, as well as the fact that the detection is just fantastic. The system has been in place now for six months and never misses a beat. We are happy and the customer is happy, which the main thing.”
Mathew Oakley, UK Sales Manager at OPTEX, says: “It is an absolute pleasure working with customers like Paul and Bellmont. Not only does Paul recognise the true value and performance of detection-led security solutions, but I have also seen first-hand the excellent service and support that Paul and the team offer its customers.”
SSAIB accredited, Bellmont Security Systems was founded in 2014 and serve the Essex community by installing and maintaining the best and most reliable security systems available. Owner, Paul Thorogood, boasts 25 years of experience with the security industry and has built as great reputation through outstanding customer service.
