The FlipX Standard models are the ideal choice for securing residential or small commercial sites. Equipped with our unique pyroelectric element for increased accuracy and performance, the FlipX Standard provides superior pet tolerance and mitigates false alarms. They are small and compact sensors with a sleek and modern design that easily blends in with its surroundings and is easy on the eyes.
The FlipX Professional are Grade 2 sensors designed for securing commercial and professional sites. They are equipped with all of the features of the FlipX Standard models as well as an extended detection range to cover larger areas up to 15m in wide detection and 24m in narrow detection. For further resistance to withstand hot and humid climates, dual-technology model comes equipped with OPTEX's Tough Mod technology.
The FlipX Advanced are Grade 3 sensors designed for securing higher-risk sites including commercial areas, datacentres, logistics and banking. They feature advanced features which will alert of attempts to mask or tamper the sensor and have an extended detection range to cover larger areas. For further increased performance and precision, the Advanced series offer more sensitivity settings to provide precise detection even when the temperature between the human body and the environment is very similar.
FlipX gives installers two detection patterns in one sensor. Simply flip the lens to choose wide detection for open areas or narrow detection for corridors, aisles, and focused approach routes.
FlipX uses a newly designed detection element to support more accurate indoor detection.
The sensor improves the way movement is captured within the selected detection pattern, helping identify genuine human movement while reducing unwanted alarms.
The FlipX Series includes graded models to support different site requirements, from standard indoor detection through to higher-security applications.
This helps installers select the right detector for the risk level, installation type, and system specification.
FlipX uses a rotatable lens to change the detection pattern without changing the sensor.
Installers rotate the lens 180 degrees to switch between two detection modes: wide and narrow. The wide setting provides 85° coverage for open indoor areas such as rooms, offices, shops and storage spaces. The narrow setting creates a focused 5° detection pattern for corridors, windows, sliding doors, aisles and restricted routes.
This gives installers more flexibility on site. One detector adapts to different layouts, reducing the need to select a separate wide or narrow model before installation.
FlipX uses PIR detection to identify changes in infrared energy caused by a person moving through the protected area. The sensor is designed to focus on human movement while supporting stable performance in everyday indoor environments.
Dual-technology models add microwave detection alongside PIR. Both technologies must confirm activity before an alarm is triggered, helping improve stability in more demanding areas where temperature change, air movement or reflective surfaces may affect detection.
This makes FlipX suitable for residential, commercial, logistics and high-value indoor applications where the detection area needs to match the room, route or asset being protected.
Choose FlipX when an indoor site needs flexible detection from one detector.
FlipX is suited to homes, apartments, offices, shops, warehouses, logistics areas, server rooms and high-value indoor spaces where the detection area may need to change depending on the layout.
The rotatable lens allows installers to switch between wide and narrow detection without changing the sensor. This makes FlipX useful on sites where one area may need open room protection, while another needs focused corridor or entry-point detection.
Choose wide detection for rooms, offices, shops, reception areas, stock rooms and other open spaces where broad coverage is needed.
Choose narrow detection for windows, sliding doors, hallways, warehouse aisles, corridors and restricted routes where focused detection is required.
Choose PIR models for standard indoor applications where reliable movement detection is needed across residential or light commercial spaces.
Choose dual-technology models when the site needs added detection stability. These models combine PIR and microwave detection, so both technologies must confirm movement before an alarm is triggered. This helps reduce unwanted activations in more demanding indoor environments.
Dual-technology models are a strong choice for areas with air movement, temperature fluctuation, reflective surfaces, large open spaces, glass-fronted areas, busy commercial rooms, warehouses, loading areas and sites where false alarm reduction is a priority.
Choose Advanced models for higher-risk areas where Grade 3 performance and anti-masking protection are required, such as server rooms, vaults, display areas, stock rooms and restricted spaces.
FlipX is a strong choice when installers need one detector range that adapts to different indoor layouts, reduces model selection complexity and supports accurate protection across everyday and high-security applications.
For residential sites, FlipX can protect a whole indoor area such as a living room or hallway with its wide 85-degree detection, or you may want to only protect vulnerable entry points like windows and sliding doors with its narrow 5-degree detection.
In commercial sites, there can be many uses of FlipX. It is the perfect solution for protecting offices or shops after hours from intruders by using the wide range of setting and protecting the entire shop floor or office space. Alternatively FlipX can be installed to protect a specific area only, for example, the most valuable items in a display or restricted areas.
In logistics and high-value sites, with the FlipX Advanced you can protect even larger and more complex areas for instance creating a narrow corridor of detection to protect aisles in a warehouse, or wide detection to protect the whole floor.

The FlipX Series will replace the majority of our older indoor PIRs as shown below (some have already been discontinued):
FLX-S-ST is replacement model for EX-35, RX-40QZ FX-40, FX-40D, RXC-ST
FLX-S-DT is replacement models for MX-40QZ, MX-40PT, RXC-DT
FLX-A-AM is replacement models CDX-AM, CDX-NAM
FLX-A-DAM is replacement models CDX-DAM
No. The FlipX is an indoor detector only. It will not function reliably through glass or in outdoor environments
The FlipX Series provide superior pet tolerance through the sensitivity settings. If you put the sensitivity mode to low, this will invoke pet immunity. In this mode, thanks to the innovative pyroelectric sensor and human catch element, small animals will not activate the sensor.
Watch this video to find out more about changing the sensitivity settings.
PIR sensitivity can be set to High, Middle (default), or Low.
Low mode provides limited pet tolerance but is not certified under EN, INCERT, SBSC, or UL standards
Blinking green (~60 sec): Warm-up
Solid green (2 sec): Alarm triggered
(LED can be switched ON/OFF via jumper; on FLX-S-DT models, remote LED control is available)
Humidity: up to 95%
Protection rating: Indoor use only (not weatherproof)
Narrow: 24 m (80 ft), 5° coverage, 18 zones
Note: Microwave detection is disabled in Narrow mode on FLX-P-DT models
Narrow: 24 m (80 ft), 5° coverage, 20 zones
Note: Microwave detection (DAM models) is disabled in Narrow mode
Install between 2.0 – 3.0 m (6’7” – 9’8”), with 2.4 m (8 ft) recommended for best performance
Yes, with the optional CW-G2 bracket, the detector can be mounted on a wall, corner, or ceiling. Without the bracket, only wall or corner mount is supported.
Power input: 9.5 – 16 V DC
Current draw: ~8 mA (FLX-S-ST), ~11 mA (FLX-S-DT)
Ensure the correct cable gauge/length as listed in the manual
Set LED to ON, close the cover, and walk through the detection area. The LED lights for 2 seconds upon detection.
Conduct a walk test at least once a year to confirm correct operation
If the lens is intentionally covered (e.g., with tape, spray, or objects) for more than 20 seconds, the detector outputs both alarm and trouble signals.
Sensitivity options: Low / Middle (default) / High
Flip the PIR lens to Wide or Narrow and ensure the jumper pin setting matches (W/N). Default is Wide
