Tommy Dowd Oil is a family-owned fuel distributor across county Meath in Ireland, with multiple locations that are equipped with monitored CCTV systems and motion detectors to maintain security and operational oversight. Despite these measures, the business faced persistent nuisance alarms that disrupted monitoring and reduced overall system effectiveness. Total Security Solutions was brought in to help resolve the problem.
Across all of its locations, the client was experiencing persistent nuisance alarms that were being triggered by the existing detectors . These false activations – caused predominately by changes in the weather conditions – disrupted monitoring operations, created inefficiencies, and increased the risk of alarm fatigue – ultimately reducing the overall effectiveness of the security system. It turned to Total Security Solutions to provide the solution.
To address the issue, Total Security Solutions replaced the existing detectors with OPTEX REDWALL sensors . OPTEX’s REDWALL passive infrared (PIRs) sensors are renowned for their stability, long-range accuracy, and strong integration with CCTV analytics, making them an ideal choice for proactive detection across all of Tommy Dowd Oil sites. Crucially, the sensors also feature enhanced environmental resistance, automatically adjusting sensitivity to adapt to the temperature and ambient lighting, meaning performance is not affected by changing weather or environmental conditions, and so are only triggered by genuine intrusions.
Following installation, we revisited each site to assist with detailed configuration and system setup, ensuring correct detector alignment, sensitivity calibration, CCTV integration, and optimal tracking performance.
