Using Audio Walk Tester AWT-3 to confirm the coverage area

After the Redwall Outdoor PIR series device is installed and the mounting angle adjusted using the Area View Finder tool, the detection area needs to be tested to confirm the coverage is correct. To this purpose, the Audio Walk Tester AWT-3 should be used, and when walking in the detection area an audible tone will be heard from the tester confirming detection of the walker.

How to use the AWT-3

First, connect the Audio Walk Tester AWT-3 to the Redwall SIP sensor in its final installation location ready to perform a walk test. Set the sensitivity to super high and have a person walk zig zag in the detection area. A changing audible tone indicates the Redwall SIP outdoor PIRs series has detected the walk test person. A constant tone indicates no detection.

Testing each zone

The Audio Walk Tester AWT-3 has a dial to select each zone separately, check the zones supported by the model of Redwall Outdoor PIR series installed. Select one zone, perform a walk test then proceed to test the next zone till all zones are tested including creep zone if the model features one. Perform fine adjustments to ensure each zone coverage is correct in the walk test.

After the test, please set the dip switches to desired setting and complete the commissioning of the installed Redwall SIP outdoor PIRs series device.
