Our LiDAR protects Call Centre facility against unauthorised access and thrown objects

A Fortune 500 company needed to increase security at its Belfast call centre by protecting private areas which were only separated from the rest of the office space by partition walls. The gap between the partition and the ceiling was identified as a security risk as objects could be thrown over or even people could climb into the unauthorised area.

The installer ZEST Security, a fire and security systems specialist, recommended two Redscan RLS-2020S, our short range LiDAR to create an invisible detection curtain between the top of the partition wall and the ceiling. The sensors detect movement or objects being thrown from one side to the other and raise an alarm to the 24-hour on-site security team.

The RLS-2020S is a PoE-compliant LiDAR featuring 95 degree and up to 20mx20m detection area. Thanks to its high sensitivity and high-speed detection, it is able to detect a thrown object as small as a USB stick. The exact point of detection can also be mapped and associated to the cameras monitoring this area.

Justin Doherty, Director at Zest Security, says: “OPTEX provided us with great support and service throughout. The client was very pleased with the speed and simplicity of the installation, and is very happy with the performance of this new solution.”

Our Intersec 2020 highlights captured on video

Since April 2019, OPTEX and our sister company, Fiber Sensys, have joined forces in the Middle East to showcase our comprehensive security portfolio to this project-driven market.

Intersec Dubai was a great opportunity for us to engage with our existing and potential customers and show them a number of point locating sensor solutions for different types of applications.

For locating and tracking intruders within open areas or along a perimeter, OPTEX presented REDSCAN LiDAR technology with exact X&Y coordinates. The detection range can be set from a few centimetres to 100m, and the target object size can be tailored to specific applications. The sensor’s flexibility and precision lend themselves to a huge range of custom applications, including detecting hands approaching an object, individuals crawling, or objects thrown over walls or fences.

Intersec was also the perfect opportunity for Fiber Sensys to preview two new point locating solutions: a buried sensor solution, Terrain Defender, able to locate an intrusion within a meter and a fibre optic solution able to cover 50km zone and detect within 5m.

We also showcased its latest line of pre-assembled IP connected beam towers, providing reliable and cost-effective virtual perimeter protection. These beams have already been successfully deployed in many sites and residences across the Middle East.

Connect our outdoor sensors to wireless Ricochet enabled alarm panels

The easiest way to extend your Ricochet® enabled alarm system and add some OPTEX external intrusion sensors is to use the BGR-01 wireless module. The wireless transmitter has been specifically developed by Texecom, enabling OPTEX wireless sensors to be easily connected to any Ricochet Premier Elite panel (vers 3.01 onwards). The BGR-01 fits inside the sensors’ backbox, comes with the battery (CR123A) and all necessary cables required to connect it to the sensor.

The Ricochet Elite panel will recognise the OPTEX sensors by model as soon as they are connected, making the installation and configuration very quick and easy. It helps create a complete wireless solution which can protect both the outside and inside of the premises. For instance, our curtain or beam sensors can be added to protect windows, doors and driveways, while our volumetric pet tolerant sensors can protect the approach to sheds, garages or outer buildings.

By using the BGR-01, our wireless sensors will be recognised by the Texecom Premier Elite Ricochet alarm panel, just like any other Texecom Premier Elite Ricochet device. The registration process onto the wireless network described as ‘learn’ on the panel is automatically completed as soon as the CR123A battery is inserted in the BGR-01. If the Texecom Premier Elite control panel has built-in Ricochet technology, no additional receiver is needed. If the Texecom Premier Elite control panel is hardwired, an additional wireless expander Elite 8XP-W, 32XP-W will be required.
